find our tiny house, in a beautiful & peaceful setting, 18km after the pavement ends….

The Esk’et Sqlelten Tiny House is located at 1197 Wagon Rd, at Alkali Lake. (48km southwest of our nearest city, Williams Lake) Wagon Rd is 2km north of the reserve, Google maps shows it as “3300 Rd”

The road from Williams Lake is mostly paved, with the last 18km’s of gravel road, with differing road conditions depending on the weather.

Winter Safety: Although roads are usually well maintained, extra caution is required, as are snow tires. Check shiftintowinter.ca  for winter safety tips, and drivebc.ca for current road conditions. Take it slow, and drive safe!

Driving - When you’ve reached the main intersection in Williams Lake, go west along Hwy 20 towards Bella Coola for 2km. As you are leaving the city, look for the sign pointing you to “Dog Creek, Alkali Lake, Chimney Lake”, and turn left off the highway. Keep driving along Dog Creek Rd for 46km. You will see the village of Alkali Lake in the valley, and then pass by the Esk’etemc First Nation welcome sign, take the next left onto Wagon Rd. (so don’t drive in to the village) The tiny house is at the 4th property.

Alternate route: If you’re coming from the south (Vancouver), about 13kms (10min) after Clinton, watch for a sign on your left pointing you toward Alkali Lake, on to Meadow Lake Rd. This is a spectacular drive, taking you on the backroads (no cell service, no GPS) through our neighbouring First Nation, Stswecem’c Xgat’tem (Canoe Creek/Dog Creek). This route may save you approximately 15min of driving time, and some gas, as the distance is quite a bit shorter. But because it’s all gravel roads, you will be going a lot slower, and it is harder on your vehicle. The positive is that it’s gorgeous out there! (take this route only in good weather (in the warm season) and if you have a solid sense of direction)

(Tip: Don’t rely on your GPS – not reliable in our area, and you will not have data access or cell service after you leave the main highway)

Flying - Our nearest airport is Williams Lake Regional Airport, a 1 hour drive to our location. Vancouver airport is 600 km’s south, 6 h, 45min driving time.
